Read Across America week is here!
Next week we will celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday by participating in a week of Seuss Spirit! We hope you will participate in some of these fun and easy school-wide activities.
The themes of the week are as follows:
Monday 2/27 - Mixed Up Monday asks that students and teachers mix up their clothing in a fun way.
Tuesday 2/28 - Top Hat Tuesdays asks that students and teachers wear their favorite hat to school.
Wednesday 3/1 - Wacky Wednesday asks that students and teachers wear wacky socks.
Thursday 3/2 - D.E.A.R. Thursday is the best of all! On Dr. Seuss's actual birthday, we will participate in a school wide Drop Everything and Read in our PAJAMAS! At 9:00 am, all classes will enter the hallway outside of their current room for 15 minutes of uninterrupted reading.
Friday 3/3 - Funny Food Friday celebrates a classic Dr. Seuss book, Green Eggs and Ham. Staff and students are encouraged to wear green in honor of this book.
March Madness at EVG!
The Student Council is sponsoring themed days for the month of March.
We ask that students show their school spirit by participating in the following:
March 10 - Team Jersey/Shirt Day
March 17 - St. Patrick's Day (Wear green, gold, or any color of the rainbow)
March 24 - Crazy Hair Day
March 31 - EVG Spirit Day

The Eleanor Van Gelder School serves the students of Edgewater in grades 3-6. Students in preschool through grade 2 attend George Washington School, and students in grades 7-12 attend Leonia Public Schools. Here at the Eleanor Van Gelder School, we are two schools in one:
Grades 5 and 6 students have a different teacher for all subjects. Your child will have a schedule that resembles that of an individualized middle or high school schedule. However, your child will generally stay with his or her peers from class to class.
